Nutcracker Experience
We were asked to design an immersive experience at THEMUSEUM in Downtown Kitchener inspired by the classic holiday tale, The Nutcracker. The objective was to reimagine the story’s key moments in a way that physically and emotionally transports visitors into the magical world of Clara, the Nutcracker, and the Mouse King.
Pam was responsible for bringing the first nutcracker scene to life. after guests walked through the stahlbaums’ cozy living room, they entered a magical space filled with giant presents, a massive gift box featuring a nutcracker, and a towering Christmas tree.
Pam built the top structure of the tree using garland wire and tree branches to shape it, while other group members created the trunk. together, we brought the scene to life — one branch at a time.
Paula was responsible for bringing the Battle Scene to life. She led the design and fabrication of this high-intensity zone that captured the chaos of the fight between the Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Her work added a dynamic, theatrical energy to the experience, creating one of the most memorable transitions in the journey.
Ronnie was responsible for designing the Snowy Forest Scene, from initial concept to visual development. I created the concept sketch and designed the space to evoke a sense of wonder, calm, and transition. Inspired by the ballet’s snowflake waltz, the scene featured soft blue lighting, reflective surfaces, falling snow effects, and layered textures to fully immerse guests in a magical winter forest.
